i cannot believe that my grayson will be seven in just under two weeks. he is growing up in so many ways. he is so very helpful these days, unless it requires him to stop watching garfield on netflix - in which case i may have to wait a while for his help. he is also transitioning before my very eyes into a young man. he is very stuck on thing being "fair" these days. as in if little sister gets something it's only "fair" for him to get the same thing or amount, right? does anyone else deal with this issue in their house? he has changed just in the past year or so in this area. what once went unnoticed is now a huge thing to him. how do we address the issue of things not always being fair without being mean about it? i mean he is only 6 and two-thirds (his words, not mine). no joke about 90% of the time when asked how old he is it isn't 6 or almost 7. his answer is 6 and two-thirds. I would explain that really it's more than that but i think we will save the fraction lesson for another time.
we just finished up basketball which went so well. he hasnt really enjoyed and really loved any sport yet. football was a total bust and baseball had potential but i honestly think it was an issue of me not realizing he may need his glasses more than i thought he did. however, basketball has different. he loved it, every part of it. he loved the practices and even more the games. each time he was dressed and ready to go with no fighting what so ever! so for spring this year instead of making him play baseball again i let him choose. while i wanted colbie and him both to play softball and baseball so badly they have both picked soccer. so a soccer mom i will be this spring. hey as long as they try and have a little fun what do i care, hmmm?
grayson is also having a blast doing boy scouts. i admit i was 100% against it in the begining. it has slowly been growing on me. as seeing this handsome boy in his bs uniform how could it not grow on a momma. our den leader is fabulous and so great with the boys. i had to do most of the meeting and everything while jason was hurt during december and janurary and have a ball with grayson. i got to help him with his derby car and while i'll admit it wasn't the fastest we both enjoyed the time we spent together while doing it. he even won best in show! so glad we joined and are having a wonderful time.
grayson, i am so very proud of who you are and who you are becoming!
