Anything but

all i wanted this weekend was a nice quit weekend to relax and do nothing.  friday we went to G’s basketball game then i took him shopping to get a few presents for some teachers, only we didn’t find anything.  saturday started out better we had his piano recital pratice theni s was home to make sure that jason didn’t need anything while he tried to get the bats out of a vent in our attic. yes, that’s right we had 2 bats stuck in a vent on the outside, thank goodness, of our house he was trying to get out.  not that they were causing any harm but it is our house after all!  we got home to find he was pretty much done, phew i thought i might have to help with that.  gray and i had to do journey to bethlehem at church on saturday and sunday so we all took naps while daddy worked outside.  g was so excited to be a part of bethlehem this year, and i did have a blast getting to do it with him.  we were outside - in the rain for a little while - for about 5 and a half hours and he did wonderful!  his job was to act like he was helping in the jewish home which consisted of filling up bowls/baskets with play food carrying it across an area of about 15 feet and pretend to fill up other baskets and such.  there was also a small kitchen that he “cooked” in too.  there were about 5 other children there also.  he was warned before we got there that if he acted up too bad i would call jason and he would come pick him up and that meant he didn’t get to come back sunday night, which he was so looking forward to.  he did so good i never even had to remind him of that threat.

getting to hold a real chicken for the people coming thru to pet

then came sunday after a very tiring night......we got up and went to church and got home and let the kids watch a move while we got ready for g’s boy scout christmas party.  i took a short nap and then we were off to 78 skate.  my children have never skated so i was please when i saw that they had the “little helpers” you can rent.  only they only have 4 in the whole place.  really?  really?  shouldn’t you have a least like 20? whatever anyways grayson and jason started skating and colbie waited while i stalked the next person to turn one in.  good thing that only took about 30 minutes, ha!  colbie got the first one because it was the smaller size, ( pics to come soon of this whenever i find my camera) and then it was time to stalk someone with a bigger one and chase them down when they turned theirs in. only that didn’t happen as planned.............i saw jason, grayson, and two other people sitting on the skating floor but no one was screaming or crying so they were okay, right?  maybe not so much

best picture i could get since i thought it might be rude to tell him to hold on while laying on the skating floor to pause for me to go grab a camera for the 45 degree angle his foot was to the side.

it looked much worse than it was so we met my parents for a swap with the kids and made it to the ER just in time to wait an hour and a half before we got a room.  good thing his foot wasn’t hanging off a wheelchair and swollen to the size of a watermelon by the time we got a room, oh wait.  all splinted up and sent home to follow up with an ortho doc the next day with 2 fresh breaks on his right ankle.  is it wrong that i laughed when we walked in and saw this on the wall of the orthopedics office....
clearly not my husband the night before
what? too soon?

so currently they can do nothing but wait a week for the swelling to go down enough.  we go back next monday for another set of xrays to check on the placement of the part that is broken and see if they can cast it or if surgery is needed.  at this point they are leaning towards surgery to stabilize the fragment floating around and then a cast over that.  merry christmas!

oh yeah and did i forget to mention that while there is never a good time for this to happen better now than next year.
