has everyone seen this litt girl beauty pageants? just my humble opinion but i think they are just about the stupidest thing out there for little girls. let me clarify what i mean real quick. i don't mind girl doing the pageants where they dress up and get all cute and pretty. fancy dresses, hair done, even a little make-up on the girls is okay with me. what i cannot stand is those pageants where the little girls have fake eye lashes, fake hair, even fake teeth. really? what are we teaching our girls. to me that teaches them that they aren't pretty enough as themselves so we need to make you pretty to compete in a pageant.
i want my daughters to know they are beautiful without all that stuff on. okay i know that soon enough my four year old will want make-up on. in fact she already love to play in my make-up, which i haven't worn in months now because i've been to fat and lazy while pregnant to even bother putting on. but even putting a little make-up on her isn't as awful to me as all the other 'add ons' that aren't even her. no wonder little girl/teenagers have such bad self esteem these days.
don't get wrong mine love a good disney princess dress with some high heel shoes but i also make sure she knows she's gorgeous in a ponytail with shorts and a tee on too. or in her newest outfit she's in love with, which change depending on whatever phase we may be going through at that time.
i have a friend, someone i went to school with that i see pictures all over facebook, that has her daughter in all the pageants i'm talking about and it is their life - no joke! i just can't imagine running from event to event all the time and it not even bases on my daughters true beauty that's getting her all these "wins".
i would love my girls to realize that it's not just your outward beauty that makes you pretty but your heart as well. am i alone in this or not?
